Fate Numbers
by Fire_Opal
Another useful number in numerology is the fate number, which is calculated as the sum of the digits of month, day and year in the example August 28, 1954 = 8 + 2 + 8 + 1 + 9 + 5 + 4 + 37 = 3 + 7 = 10 = 1 + 0 = (1). On the basis of the fate number, the individual in question can see what they have deserved, irrespective of what they may feel that the deserve.
Our fate is related to cycles lasting approximately 18 years. This is reflected in the awareness of the unconscious mind and has to do with our spiritual yearnings. According to our fate number we can see what future we should be desiring, but cannot bring ourselves to want because it comes into conflict with our conscious minds. The conscious mind distracts us from an awareness of our fate.
The fate number is more important than the psychic number and the name number. People tend to think along the same lines, but their individual fates do not always come out the way they would like. As fate always has a stronger impact after the age of 36, compromises in life must be found at this point in life with regard to wishes and objectives. Anyone can think freely and have expectations and specific wishes, but fate brings only what the individual really deserves. This is because fate in the present life is a reward for the karma of earlier lives. Human beings can freely wish for things and can do anything they want without restriction, but they cannot freely choose a specific reward for their actions. Pain and pleasure can be overcome by not attaching any importance to the fruit of one's actions and by not having any specific expectations as to what the result should be. The actual reason why human beings experience pain is that they have expectations. Once they are capable of reducing their expectations and doing their duty (their dharma) they can remain happy. The fate number is not influenced by external forces.
